Purdue relaxes parking rules as heavy snow looms; urges use of parking garages

February 4, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In anticipation of heavy snowfall over the next 24-36 hours, Purdue University Parking Facilities is relaxing enforcement in most parking garages on campus to encourage students and staff to move their parked vehicles off campus streets.

The relaxed enforcement is already under way and will expire at 7 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 6), said Holly Alexander, manager of Purdue Parking Facilities.

"We encourage staff and students to take advantage of this so that our grounds crews can clear the streets in a quicker and safer manner," Alexander said.

Available parking garages are the Wood Street Garage, Marsteller Street Garage, Northwestern Avenue Garage, University Street Garage and McCutcheon Garage. The Grant Street Garage will maintain normal operations. Students in Purdue residence halls are encouraged to use the McCutcheon Garage or University Street Garage.
