Purdue student fundraising center has new name
October 10, 2013
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue University student-run call center has changed its name to Rally Line.
The name comes from the first line of "Hail Purdue": "To your call once more we rally."
Rally Line employs students to make fundraising calls to alumni.
"The goal of the call center has always been to rally support for Purdue," said Jeannie Wade, Rally Line director. "We're proud to have a name that matches our mission and emphasizes a deep appreciation for the university."
Students have been calling alumni since 1988. Rally Line employs 130 students each semester who make contact with more than 67,000 alumni, raising more than $2 million annually in support of scholarships, fellowships, professorships, research, renovations, programs and other university initiatives.
"The opportunities I've had at Purdue are because of donors," said Brittany Crawmer, a Rally Line shift manager and senior in public relations. "I look forward to interacting with alumni, parents of students, friends of Purdue, and faculty. These individuals are the heart of the university, and it's a chance to thank them for my Purdue experience."
