Team-building mixers to be held April 9 and 16 for new Purdue venture creation class
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue graduate and undergraduate students in all academic disciplines are invited to two informal events to learn about a new venture startup class being held in the fall 2013 semester and form teams to develop ideas into companies.
Team formation mixers are scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday (April 9) and April 16 in the third-floor common areas of Rawls Hall, 100 S. Grant St. Attendees will learn about Lean LaunchPad, an entrepreneur-led class offered by the colleges of Engineering and Technology, Krannert School of Management and Department of Industrial Design. Students who complete Lean LaunchPad may earn a credit through the class currently co-listed as MGMT 590 and TECH 499.
Matt McKillip, executive director of Purdue Tech Ventures, said a wide variety of students and faculty attended an April 2 informational session about Lean LaunchPad.
"About 50 undergraduate and graduate students attended, along with several Purdue faculty members," he said. "There was a blend of academic disciplines including technology, science, liberal arts, management and engineering. These students should be able to field strong interdisciplinary teams during the mixers."
Lean LaunchPad class sessions will be Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. in Rawls Hall, Room 1057, during the fall 2013 semester. It is open to graduate and undergraduate students from all Purdue colleges and departments who have an interest in starting a business, but enrollment is limited. Each team will be led by an experienced mentor who has relevant knowledge in launching and building a startup.
