Purdue places fraternity on probation

March 4, 2013

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University officials announced Monday (March 4) that Delta Chi fraternity has been placed on probation.

The probation stems from a September registered event at the fraternity during which alcohol was found to have been made available to minors, said Jeffery Stefancic, associate dean of students. The probation, given after a review by the university and Interfraternity Council, is in effect through Dec. 14.

"We address these matters accordingly when they come to our attention, and, as in any violation with student organizations, we will work with this fraternity as it moves forward in a positive direction," Stefancic said.

In order to return to good standing, the fraternity is restricted from serving alcohol at any functions during the probation. Members must complete alcohol education programs and other university-assigned educational sanctions.
