Appointments, honors and activities

• Appointments and promotions:
- Jeffrey Spielman has been appointed director of advancement in the College of Veterinary Medicine, effective June 26. Speilman has been executive director of development for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University since 2006. Prior to that he worked in development at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he also was head basketball coach and assistant athletic director.
• Faculty and staff honors:
- Purdue's Office of Marketing and Media received awards for four entries in the 2012 Communicator Awards contest. Winning an Award of Excellence was the Maker television ad campaign. Awards of Distinction went to the Indianapolis Business Journal print ad campaign, the Purdue Viewbook and the Purdue mobile application. The Communicator Awards is an international program that recognizes big ideas in marketing and communications, receiving more than 6,000 entries annually. The program is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts.
