Russell Logsdon, John Bowman and Roger Mahrling

Russell Logsdon, John Bowman and Roger Mahrling (all Biological Sciences): As we look back on fall 2020, we in the Department of Biological Sciences want to thank Russell Logsdon, John Bowman and Roger Mahrling for all they did to get us set up for the "Unprecedented Semester 2.0." Russell Logsdon took on coordinating the move to Chaney-Hale Hall of Science in the midst of the Indiana state COVID-19 restrictions and summer campus shutdown, working around the contractors still in CHAS, overseeing the loading and unloading of every truck from Lilly Hall to CHAS, and personally making sure that pallets and equipment were sent to the correct floor/room as they were off-loaded. He worked tirelessly with project manager Mark Sammons to get equipment, biosafety cabinets and freezers assembled and in place in time for the course lab coordinators to ramp up for fall semester. John led his crew to modify numerous departmental spaces to enable safe use while also continuing to move forward on planned projects, routine maintenance, repairs, preparing for new faculty hires, and decommissioning labs. Roger has also been truly amazing in both his willingness to assist faculty and staff -- back during the frantic transition to remote teaching in the spring and throughout the summer and fall semester. He jumped to the challenge on Day 1 and continues, unrelentingly, to put in long stressful days and be available for questions or technical assistance whenever needed. -- Kathy Anderson and Janice Evans
