Everyone involved with PURA flu shot events: I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who helped the Purdue University Retirees Association organize and run this year’s drive-thru flu shot clinics. The drive-thru clinics helped retirees, at highest risk as a population, avoid crowded spaces on campus and to receive their flu vaccines in the safest way possible. Thank you to both Custom Plus Pharmacy (West Lafayette) and the Duncan Road VFW (Lafayette) for hosting the clinics and to the off-duty Lafayette police officers who helped with traffic flow. The event would not have been successful without volunteers from the PURA Executive Board and Hospitality Committee helping with setup, traffic flow, paperwork, and other necessities to ensure that pharmacy personnel could concentrate on administering vaccines. Special thanks to Norman Long (president of PURA) and William Bennett (hospitality chair and president-elect of PURA) for all of your effort planning and executing this event.
