Michele Dekle
Michele Dekle (Internal Audit): I am writing to express gratitude for Michele leading to complete a time-sensitive NSF grant budget revision that we resubmitted with less than 24 hours turnaround (including an 8 a.m. conference call) before the fiscal year ended. We were asked by NSF to make last minute revisions before the grant would be approved. Michele had helped us with our original submission over six months ago but no longer worked in Preaward Sponsored Programs, and now worked in a new department. Since her job replacement in Sponsored Programs was tied up, Michelle was willing to step in and help us get the grant revised on time, even though she had transferred to a new job. I wanted to write this note of appreciation that we truly appreciated Michele’s follow-up during departmental transition to help Purdue get the grant awarded and work across departmental boundaries. When employees transition to new internal units, work can be delayed or fall through cracks. Purdue is lucky to have an employee who demonstrates conscientiousness and follow up on projects toward completion to contribute to Purdue’s success. -- Ellen Ernst Kossek (Krannert School of Management)
