Dean Brusnighan, David Schwarte, and Howard Fooksman

Dean Brusnighan, David Schwarte, and Howard Fooksman (all IT Teaching and Learning Technologies): May 16 was International Accessibility Awareness Day, and Purdue was lucky enough to have several events take place around campus to acknowledge it. I have been trying to incorporate a greater emphasis on accessibility and accessible document design in my professional writing courses, and this event helped accelerate that effort. Dean and David generously hosted my entire class of 20 technical writing students in the Assistive Technology Center open house to learn about accessibility and assistive technologies. They explained various technologies, fielded questions from my students, and most importantly, they left us all with much to think about. Howard learned of my class visit and followed up promptly with additional resources and outreach. As an instructor, I feel very supported by these individuals. Thank you! -- Ryan Murphy (Department of English)
