Editor's note: Since 2010, Purdue Today has invited faculty and staff to recognize the good work of others on campus through its weekly "Thumbs Up" feature. The newsletter periodically will publish an expanded version of this popular feature in an effort to further call attention to employees' excellent work.
Dianna Gilroy, production editor for Purdue University Press, recognizes Bryan Shaffer, sales and marketing manager, for his diligent and thoughtful work to help move the offices of the press and Scholarly Publishing Services from the third floor of Stewart Center to Stewart Center, Room 190.
Gilroy writes:
"Bryan Shaffer coordinated our move, as well as the design of the newly renovated offices, and he has made everything very smooth and easy for all of us.
"The move was ongoing several months, and during the process, he worked with Nancy Hewison, Libraries' associate dean for planning and administration; Brad Heiss, Libraries' facilities coordinator; and the new offices' designer and architect. Bryan served as the point person for all of the staff and helped the construction and moving teams understand our needs concerning the new space.
"With the architect and designer, Bryan took care to make them understand how the new space needed to support us. Bryan had to take into account many factors, from our business needs to our personal working styles to the aesthetics of the space. He also reported to us regularly and gave us the opportunity to discuss our concerns at length.
"Bryan was doing all this on top of his duties as sales and marketing manager and while serving as co-interim director of Purdue University Press. Despite all of these responsibilities and all the stress, Bryan was wonderfully kind and helpful to us all.
"His efforts to help us move were representative of Bryan's professionalism and collegiality. We are lucky to have him at the press."
