Workshops scheduled to aid faculty in mentoring graduate writers

Purdue’s Graduate School and the Purdue Writing Lab are teaming up to offer two workshops for faculty members on mentoring graduate students in their writing.

The workshops times and details:

* Faculty Workshop: “Mentoring Graduate Writers” will be held at noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26 in Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Room 3087. This workshop will cover best practices around mentoring graduate writers including how to respond to graduate students’ writing and how to empower them. Faculty will receive strategy materials to take away and study. Registration is required and can be completed online. The deadline to register is Monday (Feb. 24).

* Faculty Workshop: “Mentoring and the Dissertation Process” will take place at noon to 1:20 p.m. April 7 in Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Room 3090. This workshop will cover actionable strategies for helping dissertation writers be more effective. Faculty will receive guidance on when and how to direct their students to the Writing Lab for intensive and ongoing support. Registration is required and can be completed online. The deadline to register is April 3.
