Student-authored submissions sought for service-learning and international engagement journal
Proposals and articles are being accepted for consideration for the seventh volume of the Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement (PJSL).
Publication in the Fall 2020 issue of the journal requires that proposals be received no later than Feb. 1 and complete article submissions no later than April 1. Submissions are made directly to the PJSL website. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis, and those received after the deadlines will be considered for the 2021 issue.
The sixth volume of the Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement is now published online and is available in print in different academic offices around campus. Visit the PJSL website to read the issue and to download articles written by Purdue students and faculty about different community engagement projects and experiences locally and globally.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to share this information with students interested in publishing an article, and are also encouraged to mentor a student writing an article.
Article types include:
* Reflective essay is a student-authored description of a community engagement project (3,500 words).
* Research with reflection is a student-authored research article that may be secondarily co-authored by a faculty member or community partner describing an engagement project using quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods research methodology (3,500 words).
* Community partner snapshot is a student-authored description of a community partner/organization and the service opportunities for students and faculty within the organization (1,000 words).
* Faculty profile interview is a student-authored interview with a faculty member involved in service-learning and/or community engagement initiatives (1,500 words).
Submissions also are being accepted for a new category of community-inspired cover art for the journal. The journal is looking for artwork, photography, digital design, or other graphic illustrations that is inspired by community engagement, either at the local or international levels.
