Purdue Global’s School of General Education to host virtual General Education Conference

The School of General Education in Purdue University Global will hold its 11th annual virtual General Education Conference on April 23-25. The theme of the conference is "Explore Beyond: Building for the Future Through General Education."

Since 2009, the School of General Education has hosted the virtual conference, in which Purdue faculty and staff share best practices, research, discipline-specific information and more. Organizers are expecting more than 100 session submissions and approximately 400 participants for the 2019 conference.

Keynote presentations will be made by:

* John Fredrick, president of the Association for General and Liberal Studies, on "'Gen Ed' on My Mind: A Life-Long Learner’s Autoethnographic Reflections on the Importance and Purpose of General Education."

* Patti Pelletier and Jenny Nichols, PG Learning and Leadership Community; Michael Lorenz, PG Registrar's Office; and Tonya Scalise, PG Curriculum and Innovations, on "LC100: Student Life - Leadership & Professional Skills: Professional Competencies in Co-Curricular Activities."

* Patti Pelletier, PG Learning and Leadership Community, and Michael Keathley and Michele Riley, PG School of General Education, on "Diversity Session: Framework for Inclusivity in Higher Education: Past, Present, & Future."

The conference is free and open to members of the Purdue community. Registration is recommended and can be found with additional information, including the conference schedule and panel sessions, online.
