Self-compassion is focus of upcoming Center for Healthy Living workshop

The Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus is offering a presentation that looks at the difference between self-care and self-compassion and how to incorporate more of each into every day. In addition, participants will learn how both directly correlate with intrinsic motivation. The presentation will take place from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Jan. 23 in Stewart Center, Room 313. Amanda Douglas, employee assistance counselor at CHL, will present.

“I think there is a widespread appreciation for the benefits of motivation and less understanding of what we can do to personally influence our own feelings of motivation,” Douglas says. “This presentation will give those in attendance the chance to see how everything is connected and how to use that to improve awareness and feel better.”

The session is available to all benefits-eligible employees as well as any dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan. Interested individuals should register by Jan. 22 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. Registration link can be found under “Mark your Calendar” on the portal’s homepage. A list of upcoming wellness workshops can be found on the Center for Healthy Living Workshops webpage. All wellness workshops are free to attend. Any questions can be directed to 765-494-0111.
