‘Blood Pressure Basics’ workshop leads into American Heart Month

In recognition of American Heart Month, observed every February, the Center for Healthy Living is offering a “Blood Pressure Basics” workshop from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Feb. 19 in Stewart Center, Room 313.

Led by Cheryl Laszynski, registered nurse health coach at the Center for Healthy Living, the workshop will provide participants information on how to keep their hearts healthy and why blood pressure is such an important number to track.

“During the presentation, each individual will have the opportunity have his or her blood pressure checked,” Laszynski says. “That simple step could potentially save someone’s life. Knowing what your blood pressure is and also what you can do to keep that number in check is very important to the health of your heart, among other things.”

Interested individuals should register by Feb. 18 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. Registration link can be found under “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage.

Workshops provided by the Center for Healthy Living are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan. For more information, contact the center at 765-494-0111.
