America Saves Week encourages employees to review finances, set personal savings goals

From Feb. 25-March 2, employees are called to take action with their finances during America Saves Week – a week geared to motivate employees to review their financial situation and make positive decisions to reduce debt and build wealth.

In the midst of tax season, this week is an ideal time for employees to pause and assess their own spending and saving status, and consider the effect of small or large changes that can lead to good savings behavior. It is important to consider how managing savings now will affect retirement income in the future.

During America Saves Week, Fidelity is providing a complimentary series of online workshops on a range of topics, from managing finances to college planning strategies and learning to invest with confidence. Employees can attend just one, or sign up for a series of workshops. A schedule of America Saves workshops is available online. Registration for the workshops is available here. A Fidelity account is required for registration.

To get started with retirement plan review, begin or increase voluntary savings plan contributions or see account balances and investment choices, log into NetBenefits or call a Fidelity representative at 800-642-7131.

Employees with certain income levels may also be eligible to receive an additional credit for their retirement contributions to a voluntary savings plan. The tax incentive, known as the Saver’s Credit, gives credit for the first $2,000 voluntarily contributed to workplace retirement programs. Get more information about the Saver’s Credit here.

Fidelity representatives are available to provide in-person workshops at staff meetings or other events. To learn more about financial and retirement topics available or to request a workshop, call 800-544-6868.
