Resources available to assist faculty, staff throughout open enrollment time period

The deadline to enroll in 2019 benefits is 6 p.m. ET Nov. 5, and Human Resources is encouraging faculty and staff to enroll as early as possible. Enrolling sooner rather than later will allow employees to avoid high traffic on Benefitfocus, the online enrollment system, resulting in faster service.

Two changes to the 2019 medical plans have been announced via a memorandum distributed on Tuesday (Oct. 23). Employees are encouraged to review this information before enrolling.

Although no changes from 2018 will be made to the spousal coverage policy for 2019, the Benefitfocus enrollment survey that employees complete while enrolling will still ask a question about spousal coverage. Employees must select a response to move forward with completing their enrollment; however, the response will not affect their 2019 benefits, and it does not matter which response is selected.

Additionally, faculty and staff should note that BoilerKey, Purdue’s new two-factor authentication service, will be required beginning Tuesday (Oct. 30) for system access including open enrollment. Visit www.purdue.edu/boilerkey for information and instructions. Not having BoilerKey access will slow down being able to enroll for benefits.

Employees also can enroll for 2019 benefits using the Benefitfocus mobile app. Install the BenefitFocus app from Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for Apple Devices. Enter “enrollpurduebenefits” as the company ID and log in with career account and BoilerKey. For additional information on the mobile app, visit the open enrollment home page.

Numerous resources are available for faculty and staff seeking benefits enrollment assistance.
