Calls from Anthem to promote health, wellness

Human Resources would like to inform benefits-eligible employees covered on a Purdue health plan that they may receive a call from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Purdue's medical plan administrator.

As part of its normal business practice, Anthem may contact policy holders on occasion to share important health information, give appointment reminders or promote a no-cost Anthem health and wellness program, such as ConditionCare.

ConditionCare is designed to help individuals take control of their health, especially when managing conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary artery disease, type 1 or type 2 diabetes and heart failure.

The program provides:

* 24/7, toll-free phone access to nurses who can answer health questions.

* Support from nurse care managers, dietitians and other health care professionals to help reach health goals.

* Educational guides, electronic newsletters and tools to help patients learn more about their condition(s).

“Should an employee receive a call from Anthem, we want to make sure they know it is not a sales call and calls only occur as a help resource,” says Candace Shaffer, director of benefits in Human Resources. “Any suggestions or programs Anthem recommends during a call are already included in an employee’s Purdue health plan. These calls serve as another helpful source for our employees when it comes to managing their health and wellness.”

Calls received from Anthem are always confidential; the Anthem rep will ask for the individual's name and date of birth to ensure identity.

Employees also can contact Anthem customer service at 855-502-6365 at any time to discuss the health programs and services offered. The customer service number also is listed on the back of employees' Anthem ID card.
