Mortar Board seeking student recommendations for annual leadership conference

The Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board is seeking Purdue undergraduates with leadership potential to attend this year’s Mortar Board Leadership Conference on Jan. 27. Faculty and staff are asked to recommend at least 10 current and emerging leaders from their areas of campus.

The theme for the 2018 conference, to be held in Stewart Center, is “Disruptive Leadership.” Keynote speakers and breakout sessions will focus on the importance and benefits of disruptive leadership and how it leads to business success by reframing problems and embracing overlooked solutions.

Conference attendees will hear from Negin Farsad, social justice comedian; Rob Smith, president of the Eli Lilly Foundation; and Dr. David Williams, chief scientific officer at the Boston Children’s Hospital. Conference attendees also will receive guidance and resources on how to develop and pursue their passions from fellow student leaders, Purdue faculty and staff, and Lafayette community leaders.

Purdue undergraduates from all majors are welcome to attend the conference, but space is limited to the first 400 registrants. Recommended students will receive priority registration.

Faculty and staff may recommend students for the conference at https://goo.gl/forms/eCfcCXxSoTQ2BVr42. The deadline is Friday (Dec. 8).
