Center for Healthy Living to focus on mindfulness during upcoming workshop
The Center for Healthy Living on Purdue's West Lafayette campus is offering an upcoming workshop focused on mindfulness. The workshop will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 9 in Stewart Center, Room 311.
Led by Lindsey Millburg, licensed social worker at the center, the workshop will focus on helping attendees build more awareness and intentionality within themselves. Objectives of the workshop include teaching ways to calm reactivity, tune in to thoughts and feelings as they arise, be present with others' feelings, listen deeply and create space for intuition and innovation.
"Being aware of our feelings and also accepting them without judging ourselves is an important skill to have," Millburg says. "I hope through the workshop I will be able to help those in attendance begin to build that skill set. Mindfulness is a concept that many don't automatically think about, and we're trying to change that."
To register, call 49-45505 by Nov. 3.
Center for Healthy Living services are available for benefits-eligible faculty and staff and spouses/same-sex domestic partners and adult dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan. Workshops are offered free of charge.
