2016 Information Literacy Research Symposium set for Aug. 2

Purdue Libraries, with the Center for Instructional Excellence, International Programs and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, will host the 2016 Purdue Information Literacy Research Symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in Stewart Center, Room 278.

The event is open to the public. A $45 registration fee is required, though waived for faculty and staff. All participants must register by July 26.

The workshop will present a values-based approach to information literacy education with a focus on enhancing the learning experience and outcomes of international students.

Hilary Hughes, associate professor and faculty of education at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, will speak. Hughes coordinates the Master of Education (Teacher-Librarianship) program and teaches a range of graduate courses including connected learning. Her interdisciplinary research interests include information literacy and informed learning, international student experience, learning space design, school libraries and teacher-librarianship.
