Protein is focus of upcoming 'Dishing it up Diabetes Style' workshop

August 17, 2015

September's "Dishing it up Diabetes Style" workshop will focus on the importance of protein. The workshop will take place from noon to 12:50 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Recreational Sports Center's Demo Kitchen. Lack of protein can often be the cause of low-energy levels in the afternoon or maintaining blood glucose levels following meals.

Within this food demonstration led by registered dietitian Ellen Welch, participants will learn how to easily add lean protein to snacks and meals, leaving people feeling fuller longer and having better control over their diabetes. Samples of the recipes prepared will be provided at the end of the demonstration.

Register for this no-charge event by Aug. 28. To register, call 49-45239. Limited seats are available.

CHL workshops are offered to benefits-eligible faculty and staff and spouses/same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan. For more information on services offered, visit the center online. For additional wellness tips and news, follow the Center for Healthy Living on Twitter.

The center is open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lab hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For assistance after hours or on weekends, contact the Anthem nurse line at 888-279-5449.
