'Dishing it Up Diabetes Style' series continues to teach diabetic-friendly food prep

April 10, 2015

The third "Dishing it Up Diabetes Style" workshop will take place April 23 with two times to choose from -- 8 to 8:50 a.m. and noon to 12:50 p.m. The workshop will take place at the Lyles-Porter Hall's Demonstration Kitchen, Room 1107.

The workshop offers instruction on food prep for those who have diabetes or know someone who has diabetes. Attendees learn how to create tasty, healthy meals that align well with a positive diabetes lifestyle.

The workshop, led by students from the Department of Nutrition Science and offered through the Center for Healthy Living (CHL), offers participants the opportunity to enjoy a cooking demonstration and samples of the delicious dishes along with the recipes to use at home. The menu for this workshop is avocado and egg sandwiches; raspberry-granola oatmeal; one-pot Mexican quinoa; black bean burgers; stuffed red bell peppers with quinoa, black beans and corn; and chocolate avocado pudding.

Registration is due by April 17. To register, call 49-45239. Limited seating is available.

CHL workshops are offered at no cost to benefits-eligible faculty and staff and for spouses/same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan.
