'Confessions of a Converted Lecturer' with Eric Mazur coming April 10
April 3, 2015
Purdue's IMPACT program will focus on how transformative education can improve student performance with an April 10 lecture by Eric Mazur, the Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics and area dean of applied physics at Harvard University.
Mazur's talk, "A Morning with Mazur: Confessions of a Converted Lecturer," will begin at 9 a.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. A Q&A session hosted by Frank Dooley, vice provost for teaching and learning, will follow at 10:30 a.m.
More information about the event is available at www.itap.purdue.edu/learning/impact. The talk and Q&A session are open to the public, and there is no cost to attend. No registration is required. For those unable to attend, the talk and the Q&A will also be live-streamed at www.kaltura.com/tiny/y8rav.
Mazur is well-known for his work in optical physics and education. His work as an internationally recognized scientist and researcher has led to contributions to spectroscopy, light scattering, the interaction of ultrashort laser pulses with materials and nanophotonics. Mazur is also well-known for his methods for interactive teaching within large lecture halls, and he has written several books and produced an award-winning DVD, "Interactive Teaching."
