Center for Healthy Living to offer tobacco cessation wellness program in April

March 30, 2015

The Center for Healthy Living will offer its second no-cost wellness program for tobacco cessation starting on April 15.  The tobacco cessation program will meet from noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesdays from April 15 through May 20 at the center. Program participants must self-identify as being a tobacco user by self-referral into the program or by Center for Healthy Living provider referral.

This comprehensive education and self-management program is offered to individuals who express interest in tobacco cessation and will educate participants on understanding tobacco, readiness to quit, quitting methods, nutrition, physical activity, stress and staying tobacco-free. Special focus will be placed on making behavior changes, overcoming withdrawal/cravings, coping with stress, managing weight, preventing relapses and more.

The primary objective is to educate and provide tools and resources to aid individuals in stopping tobacco use so they can stay healthy and prevent tobacco-use-related complications.

Register by April 13 by calling 49-45239. Limited seats are available.

CHL workshops are for benefits-eligible faculty and staff and for spouses/same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan. For more information on services offered at the CHL, visit the center online. If completing the program for a tobacco premium waiver, completion of the program is due by May 30 to qualify for waiver of the additional premium beginning on July 1.
