Value Your Health Information Fair today and Wednesday

The Value Your Health Information Fair will run from noon to 4 p.m. today (April 1) and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday (April 2) in Stewart Center, Room 214 CD.
"The fair provides an opportunity to gather some great information and have a little fun," says Eva Nodine, benefits director in Human Resources. According to Nodine, many of the companies that administer Purdue's benefits will have staff at the fair to answer questions and provide advice on managing health care expenses.
Some fair booths will provide small giveaway items, and refreshments will be provided by Anthem and Delta Dental. PayFlex will award a $100 gift card for Dick's Sporting Goods. For a complete list of who will have a fair booth, go to www.purdue.edu/hr/value.
A drug take-back station will be open throughout the fair. Faculty, staff and spouses/same-sex domestic partners may drop off their unwanted or expired medicines at the fair. "Dropping off your medicines for proper disposal is a way to prevent drug abuse and keep our water supply clean," says Kamal Singh, pharmacist at the Center for Healthy Living. "We're encouraging everyone to start their spring cleaning with their medicine cabinets."
Acceptable items to drop at the drug take-back station include tablets and capsules; creams, ointments and lotions; liquid medications; inhalers; controlled substances; vitamins and over-the-counter drugs; and insulin. Needles and syringes may not be dropped off. A police officer will be on duty at the drug take-back station.
Today's schedule also includes a 10 a.m. presentation by Dr. David Lee of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana. His presentation is titled "Bringing Health Care Value to You." Anthem will provide refreshments for Dr. Lee's presentation and will award a Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband to one attendee. The session will be in the East/West Faculty Lounges in Purdue Memorial Union.
At a 2 p.m. session in Stewart Center, Room 214 AB, Singh will discuss the value of medication therapy management. Refreshments will be available next door at the Value Your Health Information Fair.
