Amy Boyle, senior director, human resources, has always been invested in Purdue. She is a lifelong member of the Lafayette community and a Purdue graduate. Now, she has taken on a new role within Purdue to help make the University even better.

Boyle has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and supervision and is part of the Transform Purdue project.

What is the Transform Purdue project?

Transform Purdue is designed to streamline, simplify, organize and automate Purdue business processes and related systems. The transformation is organized in three phases or projects -- Enterprise Asset Management, Human Capital Management and General Ledger. Human Capital Management, which is the part that I am involved in, continues to move forward and upon deployment will implement SAP SuccessFactors as a one-stop shop for all human resource-related tasks, including time and payroll.

What is your role with the Transform Purdue project?

My role with the Transform Purdue project is to participate on the change network and serve as a change lead for the Human Capital Management project. I am responsible for ensuring that stakeholders in our areas are represented and aware of what is changing, when it’s changing and why. I participate in a variety of work groups to help support the goal to streamline, simplify, organize and automate Purdue business processes and related systems in order to provide faculty and staff with the best processes and tools possible to be successful in their respective roles.

Why is Transform Purdue important?

During my 15 years at Purdue, I have been fortunate to have been part of many important projects and initiatives. The BPR (Business Process Reengineering) project / Transform Purdue is the first time we have come together to truly change the way we do business.

What is the most rewarding part of working on the Transform Purdue project?

I am excited about reducing manual entry and paper processes, and the benefits associated with having an integrated system. Implementing a job family structure and level guide that’s visible to employees and supervisors to help guide career planning is also going to be very rewarding.

What do you do as senior director, human resources?

I provide strategic leadership and oversight for all activities associated with the delivery of effective employee relations services to the campus. A key part of my job is to partner with senior leaders to proactively address workplace issues in order to improve culture and the overall campus experience for our faculty and staff.

I work with an amazing team of HR professionals including HR consultants and specialists who work in the field and serve as initial points of advice and counsel for faculty and staff on employee relations issues. Areas of consultation and facilitation include conflict resolution, organizational assessment, mediation, performance management, leadership development, recognition, retention and ADA administration. My role is to continually evaluate service delivery and offer process improvement by reviewing the effectiveness of HR services. Developing relationships with faculty and staff and serving as a partner is very important to me.

I recently transitioned into this role, and in the coming months, my goals will be to get to know each college, department and business unit and to find out what is important to them from a faculty and staff perspective and tailor our services to help them achieve their goals.
