Union's Catering and Events featuring 'Seasonal Menus'

The Catering and Events department at Purdue Memorial Union has begun offering "Seasonal Menus," a new way to provide a group meal or delightful treats for other occasions.

The first is the 2011 Holiday Seasons Menu, available through Jan. 13 with items and pricing that are not offered on the Union's standard catering menus. Other seasonal menus will come along as the year moves ahead.

On the Holiday Seasons Menu, the big attraction is the Holidays at the Union Buffet, designed for gatherings of 25 or more people. In addition to a meal including a choice of two (lunch) or three (dinner) entrees, the offer provides seasonal decor and centerpieces. The entree selections come from a list of eight, and the hosts also select from salad, side dish and dessert lists. Rolls with butter, regular and decaffeinated coffee, and iced tea or lemonade come with the meal.

The price for the Holiday Seasons Menu is $12.95 per person for lunch or $17.95 for dinner. Prices are subject to an 18 percent service charge and applicable Indiana sales tax.

In other offerings, the Fireside Chat puts fruit kabobs with minted chocolate fondue in conversation with cookies, pastries, tuxedo strawberries and mock champagne or sherbet punch for $5.95 per person.

A set of Starbucks Candy Cane Coffees is available with or without cookies, and with preapproval, spirits and a bartender can be added, creating a hot beverage bar. Two party-ready Holiday Bundles and seven kinds of Nutcracker Sweets are on the menu. Eggnog is an optional addition for any event.
