Youth with disabilities can swim, play at Pete's Pals program

Children and youths ages 3-18 with disabilities can participate in the five-week Pete's Pals program, which offersaquatic and motor therapies.
 
The program is 6-8 p.m. Thursdays from March 24 through April 28 (excluding March 31) at Faith Community Center, 5526 State Road 26 East, Lafayette.
  
The program is designed to help the participating children become efficient movers in a fun and safe environment. Each child in the program is assigned a trained clinician who will work one-on-one for thetwo-hour gym and swim program.

A child's program may include:
* Physical fitness activities to improve muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.
* Body awareness and spatial orientation.
* Fundamental and motor-patterns and sport skills.
* Swimming and water safety skills.
* Sensory motor activities.

Parents also will be provided with opportunities to engage with one another and with invited guest speakers.
  
The cost is $30 per student, and scholarships are available. A registration packet and more details are available at www.cla.purdue.edu/hk/petespals. The registration deadline has been extended to March 18.
