Nominations sought for Jischke Outstanding International Student of the Year
Faculty and staff are invited to nominate a graduating senior for the Martin C. Jischke Outstanding International Student of the Year award.
Nominations for the award are due Feb. 20. The award was established by President Emeritus Martin C. Jischke to recognize a Purdue international student who has helped the University welcome and connect people of all cultures, says Joe Potts, associate dean of international programs and director of the Office of International Students and Scholars.
Nominees must be graduating seniors who have attained a minimum of a 3.0 graduation index. Nominees must have graduated in December 2011 or be set to graduate in May 2012 or August 2012.
Nominations should attest to the student's scholarship, leadership, character and service. Service (on or off campus) will receive the greatest emphasis in the selection.
"Dr. Jischke wants this honor to be bestowed upon someone who is not only a high academic achiever, but to someone who has also reached out to international students and promoted cultural understanding through volunteer service," Potts says.
A committee of students and representatives from the Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) will select the recipient, who will receive the award in April.

Completed nomination forms and all accompanying documentation must be sent electronically to Joe Potts at jdpotts@purdue.edu no later than Feb. 20.
