Register to participate in new offering on mental illness

February 1, 2012

WorkLife Programs is partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to bring the NAMI Family to Family Education Program to Purdue.

NAMI Family to Family is a free 11-week educational program for family members of close relatives with bipolar disorder, major depression, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and co-occurring brain disorders and addictive disorders. The classes are structured to help family members understand and support their ill relative while maintaining their own well-being.

The course is taught by a team of trained NAMI members who know what it is like to have a loved one with a serious mental illness in the family. The course teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively.

Classes begin Feb. 15 and run Wednesdays through May 2 (no class on March 14). They will be held from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m. in Krannert Building, Room G009.

To register for the NAMI program or other offerings, go to and log in with your career account and password, or call WorkLife Programs at 49-45461.
