WorkLife Programs offering Cancer and Nutrition webinar next week

November 10, 2011

To meet the needs of staff in remote locations and those unable to leave their desks to attend a presentation, WorkLife Programs is offering webinars this fall. The next scheduled webinar is Cancer and Nutrition, which will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 17. Registered dietitian Linda Monahan will be the host.

According to the American Cancer Society, "Obesity and physical inactivity may account for 25 to 30 percent of several major cancers, including colon, post-menopausal breast, endometrial, kidney, and cancer of the esophagus."

Research continues to show that what we eat influences our chances of getting cancer: some foods appear to be protective, while others make us more vulnerable to various kinds of cancer. Participants will learn up-to-date nutritional strategies that may fortify their health against this deadly disease.

For those unable to attend at the scheduled time, the webinar will be recorded and made available within a few days at www.purdue.edu/worklife.

To participate in this webinar, register online at www.purdue.edu/worklife or call WorkLife Programs at 49-45461. Once a participant has registered for the webinar, the URL for the meeting will be available under "My Enrollment." Access the link provided shortly before the meeting time to attend the webinar. Participants will need a computer with speakers to take part.

Previous webinars are available on demand on the WorkLife Programs registration system. Once logged in at www.purdue.edu/worklife, select "Recorded Webinars."
