Purdue Bowlermakers to meet Wednesday

August 18, 2011

The Purdue Bowlermakers women's bowling league will hold an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 24) in Stewart Center, Room 202.

The short meeting will cover the rules and other information about the league. Newcomers who have a team or want to join one (single bowlers) are encouraged to attend this meeting. Emphasis is on recreation, and all skill levels are welcome. Teams have three bowlers per session and can have alternates.

The membership of the Purdue Bowlermakers is open to any female staff, faculty or student. Female relatives and spouses of Purdue staff, faculty or students also are eligible. The league also invites its past members who no longer work at Purdue.

Bowling takes place at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays starting Aug. 31 in Union Rack 'n' Roll at Purdue Memorial Union, and the season consists of 30 weeks. That excludes the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 23), the week of Christmas (Dec. 28) and the week of New Year's Day (Jan. 4). The last night of bowling will be April 11.

Membership (sanction) cost is $17, and weekly dues are $8 for each night a player bowls. The Purdue Bowlermakers is one of the longest-running all-female leagues in Tippecanoe County.
