Mortar Board inviting nominations for student awards

February 3, 2011

The Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board is asking faculty and staff for nominations for two student awards -- the Dean Betty Nelson Service Award and the Tip of the Cap Award.

The Dean Betty Nelson Service Award recognizes one Purdue student affiliated with a student organization and one student organization that excel in community service in the Lafayette-West Lafayette area. Mortar Board seeks to recognize those who have been instrumental in the continuing success or initiation of service programs. The award consists of $500 for the student winner and $500 to the student organization.

Nominations should be submitted at https://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mortarbd/awards/dean.betty.nelson.php by March 4.

The Tip of the Cap Award is presented to students who do not hold a major leadership role in their student organization but who are "unsung heroes" and rarely receive the recognition deserved. There are up to 10 recipients each year. All receive a monetary gift and certificate.

Nominations should be submitted at https://web.ics.purdue.edu/~mortarbd/awards/tip.of.the.cap.php by March 4.
