Clarification: Students collecting personal electronic devices for recycling

December 8, 2010

Students from the colleges of Technology and Engineering are collecting people's personal unwanted electronic devices to recycle through Friday (Dec. 10). This collection does not include University equipment, which is handled through the Recycling for the Future program.

The students' collection is being sponsored by the Association of Information Technology Professionals in an effort to make sure electronics are disposed of or recycled properly. People can drop off their personal electronic devices in Room 255, Knoy Hall.

Items to be dropped off should be similar in size to a laptop. Full details, including a partial list of accepted items, are available at www.electrocyclepurdue.com.

The Recycling for the Future program for University property provides for secure destruction of electronic storage media and devices that may contain sensitive data about the University, its people or others. The program is conducted by the University Warehouse and Surplus unit as part of the Secure Purdue initiative.
