Recreational Sports Center offering free group exercise and Learn to Play classes

August 23, 2010

More than 40 Group X classes are being offered free today through Sept. 5 for members of Purdue's Recreational Sports Center.

Popular Group X classes include Turbo Kick, 20/20/20 and Zumba. The Turbo Kick class combines kickboxing, sport drills and simple dance moves, and 20/20/20 offers 20 minutes each of cardio, body sculpting and core training. Inspired by Latin dance music, Zumba helps tone and sculpt the body with easy-to-follow dance moves.

The entire Group X schedule is available at www.purdue.edu/recsports/programs/fitness_classes/index.php.

In addition, Learn to Play sampler classes will be offered Aug. 30 through Sept. 2. No sign-ups are required. Spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

New classes on the Learn to Play schedule this semester include Boilermaker Boot Camp, Fitness Ballet, Contact Kickboxing and Ballroom Dancing. The most popular classes continue to be Cycling, Yoga, Pilates and PiYo. These classes fill up quickly, and space is limited to 30 participants. Early registration is available beginning today (Aug. 23).
