40 Developmental Assets
12:10-12:50 p.m. April 2. PWF.
Parents and adults who care for or work with children are invited to learn about the power of Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets for young people. Since its creation in 1990, Search Institute's framework of Developmental Assets has become the most widely used approach to positive youth development in the United States. Grounded in extensive research in youth development, resiliency and prevention, the Developmental Assets represent the relationships, opportunities, and personal qualities that young people need to avoid risks and to thrive. The framework applies to children of all ages. Asset building affirms parents' important role in their children's lives. It reminds them that what they do makes a big difference. Furthermore, it motivates them to stay actively involved in their children's lives throughout childhood and adolescence, rather than assuming that teenagers no longer need their parents when they are becoming independent.

Parents and adults who care for or work with children are invited to this presentation, which will focus on art as a process, not a product, when working with young children.
