Office of Industry Partnerships to host fall semester faculty workshops

The Office of Industry Partnerships will host two, free faculty workshops this fall. Each interactive session will highlight opportunities for collaboration, research and engagement across campus and industry.

The first workshop, “Building a Center of Excellence Through Industry Partnerships,” will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Stewart Center, Room 279. Lunch is included.

This workshop will explore the intersection of industry partnerships, educational opportunities and research, highlighting how collaboration drives innovation and impact. The co-directors of the Institute for Control, Optimization and Networks will lead a panel discussion among faculty to discuss how the Office of Industry Partnerships can help create successful connections. Participants will gain insights into best practices, emerging trends, and strategies to strengthen connections between academia and industry

The second fall workshop, “Strategies for Adapting to a Changing Funding Environment,” takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in Stewart Center, Room 310. Lunch will be provided.

Presenters include Yuehwern Yih, the Tompkins Professor in Industrial Engineering and director of Purdue’s Smart Operations and Systems Laboratory; Priyanka Brunese, founder and CEO of Saath Partners; and Pallavi Gupta, co-founder and executive director of Saath Partners.

In their discussion, they will address the evolving funding landscape and how to collaboratively design interdisciplinary research initiatives that deliver greater societal and economic value. This will be a hands-on workshop where participants share experiences, proven strategies and tools that strengthen teaming, as well as proposals and research translation for societal impact. By the end, faculty will:

  • Learn strategies to strengthen their research value chain from funding to implementation
  • Gain insights distilled from over 50 research projects to help align with funders’ priorities around research utilization and impact, decoding funder expectations
  • Understand pathways to bridge research and practices to increase potential impacts
  • Recognize the critical elements for impactful research design in strengthening proposals and managing complex research programs
