This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Lauren Lucas

Thank you, Lauren (Office of the Registrar), for all of your help getting a student issue taken care of! — Katie May (Public Health)

Joshua Detre

Joshua (College of Agriculture) has been leading the books publication efforts on behalf of the College of Agriculture. Through meetings with multiple publishing houses and interactions with faculty authors, he has created a strong pipeline for books to be published in 2025 and 2026. His efforts and commitment to the books initiative are unparalleled. Thank you for charting the way! — Cristina Farmus (Office of the Provost)

Angela Canarecci

Much appreciation extended to Angela (Human Resources — Benefits) as she assisted me in navigating through a very sensitive life event. This was one notable example where acts of kindness exemplify how much Purdue Human Resources personnel care! — Jacquelyn Thomas-Miller (College of Education)

Tonya Byrd

Tonya (Finance) is an amazing colleague with all things budget related. She provides great feedback and is patient with my never-ending questions. Tonya is quick with responses and is always willing to walk me through something new and complicated. I couldn’t do the work I do without Tonya! — Mandie Greiwe (Disability Resource Center)

Lesa Beals

Huge thank-you to Lesa (Office of the Registrar) for always advocating for students! Thank you for always taking the time to answer questions and concerns. I truly appreciate all that you have done for me and the work that you have done to help others. — Katie May (Public Health)

Molly Hansen and crew

The west entrance of Stone Hall was very icy over the sand that was laid to protect the new concrete. Molly (Building Services) and her crew located and used ice melt that is safe for new concrete, removing the buildup of ice over the sand below. Molly’s decisiveness in instructing her crew prevented the possibility of slips and falls at the west entrance of the building. A big thanks to Molly and her crew! — Josh Shepler (Nutrition Science)

Brenda Fresch

Thank you, Brenda (Purdue Global Alumni Relations), for co-presenting with me at the North American Association of Commencement Officers annual conference. Your expertise in university commencement planning was evident through your thoughtful ideas for the session. By sharing your insights with peers from institutions across North America, you made a meaningful impact, and your contributions were truly appreciated. — Beth Smith (Purdue Global Alumni Relations)

Jon Smith

Jon (Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance) is our building superintendent at Pao Hall, but he is more than that: Jon is always there to help in the studio with machinery breakdowns and repairs, generally filling in the gaps of our own ability to keep the studio running. He has been a constant resource for help and advice. Thanks for being there for us, Jon. Teaching in the art programs on campus would be much harder without your help. — Sigrid Zahner (Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance)

Kirstin Gotway

I made a last-minute request for a group of 25 students to tour the Degas Collection at Purdue. Kirstin (Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance) went above and beyond by sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with us. Thank you, Kirstin! — Lisa Jones (Engineering Education)
