This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients
Josh Harley and JJ Smith
Stable and functional technology was essential to the success of a temporary I-9 Verification Center opened to complete employment verifications for new spring semester employees. Josh (Purdue IT) was our first contact, and he quickly realized the technology and personnel needed to support the operation. After an initial meeting at the center site, JJ (Purdue IT) was charged with ensuring that all the IT equipment needs were successfully acquired. JJ gathered the necessary laptops and scanners and installed the required software on each laptop. Plus, JJ completed the on-site setup and teardown and fielded several support calls from the center once it was open. The center was a huge success, completing over 1,000 employment verifications during two weeks of the spring semester. We could not have accomplished this task without the assistance and support of Josh and JJ! Thank you! — Kelly Cunningham (Finance and Business Operations)
Hunter Rex
Thank you, Hunter (Intercollegiate Athletics), for always being willing to answer questions and help out! Your patience and kindness are greatly appreciated. — Katie May (Public Health)
College of Pharmacy Business Office
Thank you for all of your help over the years! I have never stopped by the College of Pharmacy Business Office and not been met with a bunch of smiling faces. Thank you for always being kind! — Katie May (Public Health)
Bonnie McCauley
Bonnie (Infrastructure) consistently goes above and beyond in assisting me with all things financial for our EMS Reservation system. She recently went on a weekslong hunt for a wayward check that had been inadvertently routed through Purdue University Fort Wayne. She was able to find the right people and track it down and got it deposited back into our account. Thank you so much, Bonnie, for all you do for us! — Kathy Walters (Purdue Conferences)
Shawn Eversole
On a freezing January morning, Shawn (Chemistry) stepped in and saved the day. A student was in the Grant Street garage, and their car had just died due to the frigid temperature. They needed a jump start. Shawn lined up his car to help the student. After the car was started, Shawn took the extra step and handed over his jumper cables to the student in case they needed them later that day. Shawn gave his name and office to the student so they could find him if they needed help jumping their car. Shawn clearly put students first that cold morning. — T.R. Oneal (Purdue Polytechnic Institute)
Lindsay Leon
I reached out to Lindsay (Benefits) late in the day on a Friday regarding an issue one of my reports was having with a Healthy Boiler form. Lindsay responded promptly and was incredibly helpful in resolving the issue. On behalf of both of us, thank you so much for your help, Lindsay! — Eric Coates (Hillenbrand Dining)
Jody Courtney
Jody (Materials Management Administration) always goes above and beyond to help out in odd mail situations. She comes in with a smile on her face, and when she leaves, we have a smile on our faces. It is nice to see someone take pride in their work and make other people’s jobs easier. Jody, we thank you. — Joanna Cook, Cathy Roark (both Admissions) and Patty Rigdon (Enrollment Management)
Pamela Walker-Stokes
Pamela (Purdue Conferences) and her colleagues went above and beyond in the planning and delivery of the Indiana STEM Education Conference. Pamela puts in the time to ensure every detail is meticulously handled. Her commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for all conference attendees is evident in her proactive approach, seamless organization and thoughtful attention to every aspect of the event. Thank you to her and Purdue Conferences for another successful year. — Bill Walker (CATALYST)
McKenzie Wagner and Andrew Benkert
There was a situation that transpired with an individual, and McKenzie and Andrew (both Police Department) did a great job de-escalating the situation. McKenzie was able to get the individual the help needed in a safe manner as Andrew assisted. I would like to thank them for this amazing job and all they do for Purdue! — Natalie Devine, Annette Robbins and Billy Spurlock (all Building Services)
