Faculty and staff honors:

Brandon Kistler, assistant professor of nutrition science in the Purdue University Department of Nutrition Science, is the 2025 recipient of the Joel D. Kopple Distinguished Lecture Award. Presented by the National Kidney Foundation, the annual award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of renal nutrition. Kistler is a registered dietitian and co-directs Purdue’s Clinical Translational Nutrition Research Lab. Read more.

Tim Gavin, professor and head of the Purdue University Department of Health and Kinesiology, has been elected to treasurer of the American Kinesiology Association (AKA), effective January 2025. Gavin has been a long-standing leader within the organization, most recently serving as director of the AKA Leadership Institute. As treasurer, he will oversee the finances of the organization and serve on the executive committee. Read more.

Lin Nan, Brock Family Chair Professor and senior associate dean for faculty affairs in the Mitch Daniels School of Business, has been ranked the No. 3 top analytical author over the past six years in the 2024 accounting research rankings produced by Brigham Young University. The rankings include the total research output of faculty in top accounting journals in periods of six, 12 and all years dating back to their inaugural publication in 1990. Nan has ranked in the top 10 analytical authors in all topics globally each year since 2019. In addition, the Purdue accounting faculty is ranked No. 3 globally for analytical topics over the same six-year period. The National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA) has recognized Daniels School of Business Professor of Management Alok Chaturvedi with its 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award. The association cited his transformative contributions to the field of modeling and simulation, his pioneering role in advancing agent-based approaches, and his groundbreaking work in integrating quantum computing and GAI into simulation methodologies. The NTSA notes that Chaturvedi’s work has transformed agent-based modeling and simulation “from a niche technique into a cornerstone methodology for computational social science and decision support systems.”
