Purdue partners with Fisher Scientific to promote greener lab practices through eco-friendly products

The Administrative Operations Sustainability and Procurement departments have recently partnered with Fisher Scientific to bring their Greener Choice program to Purdue storerooms. This program gives lab researchers and staff access to a range of eco-friendly lab products while continuing to benefit from the affordability inherent in the catalog offerings.

When browsing products, users can easily identify environmentally preferable products by looking for the green leaf icon. These products have been selected for the Greener Choice program based on specific environmental benefits, as outlined in the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s “Green Guides.”

Products qualify for the Greener Choice label if they:

  • Offer one or more environmental benefits listed in the FTC Green Guides
  • Have been verified as environmentally preferable within their product category
  • Provide assurance that environmental benefit claims remain substantiated over time
  • Include a signed certificate of compliance from the supplier, ensuring adherence to state and federal environmental marketing laws

By choosing Greener Choice products, Purdue’s labs can reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining high standards and benefiting from affordable options for research and operations. For more information on the Greener Choice program and to browse products, visit Fisher Scientific’s Greener Choice Program. Orders can be placed through the Fisher Scientific catalog in Ariba or in Purdue storerooms, located in Wetherill and Lilly. Choosing greener lab supplies is a small step toward big changes in reducing waste and emissions — one that helps Purdue move toward a more sustainable future. Sustainability is part of the Administrative Operations organization, which supports the university by providing safe, reliable and transformative services. Providing campus with access to eco-friendly lab products is just one of the ways the organization powers Purdue.
