Purdue University on Friday (Oct. 18) dedicated the new Hall of Data Science and AI. A cutting-edge facility, the building will help meet the growing demand for data science graduates across all sectors — from health care and manufacturing to agriculture, transportation and beyond.

A renovation of the previously named Helen B. Schleman Hall of Student Services has created a modern facility in the heart of campus where students and faculty will transform data into information, innovation and knowledge while maximizing the unlimited potential of artificial intelligence. Here, form will meet function through interdisciplinary projects across the sciences, engineering and liberal arts in an open and welcoming environment.

“The Hall of Data Science and AI will enable Purdue to meet the demand from an ever-increasing number and broader range of students interested in these subjects as a major, a minor or a certificate,” Purdue President Mung Chiang said. “It also reflects the university’s investment in ‘physical AI.’ The bytes of AI meet the atoms of what we grow, what we make and what we move.”

Following renovations of its own, Stewart Center now serves as the university’s principal destination for student services, including admissions, financial aid, bursar and registrar functions.
