This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

University Hall on the Purdue University campus.

Carla Briggs

Carla Briggs (Finance): We want to thank Carla for her time and commitment in collecting and processing stipend paperwork for our 60 PITCH participants. Her hard work and dedication ensured that the students received their stipends at the completion of the program. Thank you, Carla! — Billie Johnson (Special Projects Administration) and the PITCH team

Jessica Scott

Jessica Scott (Wiley Dining): Jessica assisted in accommodating entry for over 40 additional summer program dinner guests at Earhart Dining Court. She was able to strategize the best way to allow them entry and inform the necessary staff in Dining & Culinary that they could expect more people. She was phenomenal and extremely helpful in displaying wonderful customer service. — M. Spencer Hudec (Residential Housing Operations)

Purdue Global meditation team members

Purdue Global meditation team members: Meditation began in 2020 under the care and guidance of Kathy Bishop, retired Health Sciences faculty member. As the Purdue Global Ambassadors approach the four-year mark of offering meditation to the university, I’d like to extend my sincerest gratitude to meditation team members Liz Fitzgerald (Center for Teaching & Learning), Melinda Linscott (Tutoring), Ken Martz (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences), Beth Smith (Alumni Relations) and Carolyn Stevenson (Undergraduate School of General Education). In addition, Dr. Bishop extends her gratitude and is touched by our efforts to grow our meditation community, as we have helped her continue her life’s work. Meditations are at 11 a.m. ET on Mondays, except holidays. Meditations are offered at Purdue Global Village and as part of Mental Health Month and Nurses Month. Meditation details for employees can be found on the Purdue calendar and in PG411 for students. Thank you! — Laurie Hansen (Alumni Relations)

Larry French

Larry French (Purdue IT): Thanks so much to Larry French, who has been incredibly helpful in navigating and supporting our research project. He has made what we feared would be a complicated process simple and easy. — Dan Guberman (Center for Instructional Excellence)

Terri Davis, Todd Murray and Joel Wenger

Terri Davis, Todd Murray (both IT Enterprise Solutions) and Joel Wenger (Financial Aid): Thank you a billion and one to you three for swooping in and figuring out a way to automate record corrections that would have taken a full week or more to do manually. Truly heroic work you do. So very appreciative of you. — Russell Tragesser (Financial Aid)

Keith Depoy and Nick Waddle

Keith Depoy and Nick Waddle (both Operations and Maintenance): Keith and Nick found an AC unit with an overflowing drip pan that was causing water to accumulate on the floor. They reported it, and the root cause of the problem was a clogged drain line that was causing a vacuum and not allowing the condensation to drain from the unit. Although they were not doing PMs to this particular unit, it was their awareness to the surrounding area that caught their attention. This is a prime example of “see something, say something,” no matter if it’s a small issue or a big issue. Thanks to Keith and Nick for being aware that this could have been a bigger issue if it continued to happen. — Jerry Culvahouse (Operations and Maintenance)

Aaron Thomas

Aaron Thomas (Agriculture Purchasing Center): As the Ag Purchasing Center team transitions to TeamDynamix (TDX),Aaron has been our go-to person, Aaron has been our center’s go-to person. He has helped with setting up templates and helping with the filtering function. We handled the transition as a team, but it is nice to have Aaron to keep us grounded. — Patrice Castillo (Agriculture Purchasing Center)
