Mental Health Action Week kicks off today
The fifth annual Mental Health Action Week is set for this week (Feb. 26 to March 1) on the West Lafayette campus.
Mental Health Action Week is co-sponsored by Purdue Graduate Student Government (PGSG), Purdue Student Government, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH) and RecWell. A series of well-being activities, food, fun and programs highlighting available resources is planned for undergraduate and graduate students.
Two kickoff events will be held today (Feb. 26):
- Noon to 3 p.m. in the lobby of Krach Leadership Center and noon to 5 p.m. on Third Street outside Krach. This event is hosted by PSG and will include snacks, crafts, informational tables, a bouncy obstacle course and outdoor games. Undergraduate students are invited to attend.
- 12:30-3 p.m. at the Purdue Graduate Student Center. This event is hosted by PGSG/CAPS and will include a range of well-being activities, food and resources. Graduate students are invited to attend.
On Tuesday (Feb. 27), PSG, PGSG and the Well-Being Collective (CAPS, PUSH and RecWell) will host a Takeover Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Co-Rec. The event will promote holistic well-being for undergraduate and graduate students through engagement activities to help them connect with campus resources. The celebration will include a climbing wall, chair massages, fitness classes, yoga, meditation, cultural and fitness resources, Tom’s Coffee, free food, giveaways and more. QPR training will also be offered at the event. QPR stands for Questions, Persuade and Refer — three steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
PGSG and PSG will hold additional activities throughout the week. Details are available on the PGSG and Mental Health Action Week Instagram accounts and in the PGSG newsletter.
