Purdue’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week is in full swing on campus, with a series of events, performances and programs that draw into focus King’s work and legacy on civil rights, social justice and community service.
On Monday, Purdue’s MLK Day of Service marked the national holiday in King’s honor by inviting faculty, staff and students to gather for on-campus service projects that effect positive change in the community. This year’s projects centered on food justice and included the Greater Lafayette agencies Food Finders and LTHC Homeless Services.

Purdue’s MLK commemorative event featured Dance Theatre of Harlem on Tuesday at Elliott Hall of Music. In addition to the performance, Dance Theatre of Harlem offered two master classes: one open to the Purdue community and one in collaboration with Lafayette Ballet Company.
Purdue also recognized the 2024 Dreamer Award recipients at a reception Tuesday in the Purdue Memorial Union’s West Faculty Lounge.
