Through a partnership with the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation and Purdue, five students pursuing doctoral degrees through the College of Engineering — Meera Doran, Maxwell Kawada, Shaiv Mehra, Peter Meshkov and Christopher Peter — have been named to the university’s inaugural class of ARCS National Scholars.
“Teaching Political Communication” serves as a comprehensive guide for educators looking to respond to and prepare students for the fast-evolving sociopolitical environment. Co-edited by Diana Zulli, associate professor of communication, the text addresses core pedagogical approaches to teaching courses in political communication, politics and public policy by offering actionable course frameworks, assignment models and classroom strategies to cultivate civic engagement, critical media literacy and productive conversations about politics.

Marcy Towns, associate dean for leadership excellence and the Bodner-Honig Professor of Chemistry in the College of Science, was named the recipient of the George C. Pimentel Award in Chemical Education from the American Chemical Society on Aug. 31. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to chemical education.
