Purdue’s Indianapolis campus marked a construction milestone Sept. 17 as the Academic Success Building reached its highest point with a topping-out ceremony. Students, faculty, staff and project partners signed the final steel beam before it was raised into place. The building, scheduled to open in fall 2027, will support student success through housing, classrooms, labs and dining.
Purdue’s fall Road to Retirement conference begins today, and there is still time to take advantage of the three days of virtual retirement and financial wellness sessions. Experts from Purdue Human Resources, Fidelity, the Social Security Administration and others are presenting topics including saving and investing, Social Security, healthcare, and retirement income planning.
Lance Lochner, professor of economics and faculty affiliate of the Purdue University Research Center in Economics, recently joined the Daniels School of Business as part of the university’s Moveable Dream Hires program. Lochner’s current research examines intergenerational mobility, child development, post-secondary financing and the evolution of skills and skill prices. Together, these areas of research reflect a central idea in Lochner’s work: Economic outcomes are shaped by decisions and investments that accumulate over time — and often begin much earlier than we might expect.
On a new episode of “This Is Purdue,” Allie Gabriel, the Thomas J. Howatt Chair in Management and director of the Center for Working Well, and Kate Zipay, associate professor of organizational behavior and human resources, will help listeners tackle what true productivity looks like in a world filled with constant digital distractions — from “doomscrolling” on social media to never-ending Teams and email notifications.
Purdue Global will celebrate the achievements of more than 3,500 graduates on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus Oct. 3-4, with in-person ceremonies being held at Mackey Arena.
