Leaders from Purdue, Elanco, the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana gathered on Tuesday (Oct. 6) to formally break ground on the One Health Research Institute near downtown. As part of the ongoing construction of the One Health Innovation District, the research institute will serve as a hub for research, partnership and innovation, anchored by Purdue and Elanco.

Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies on Dec. 2 will host A Celebration of Books Fall 2026, recognizing Purdue authors who have recently published books and highlighting the importance of books as a form of academic contribution and public engagement. This fall’s event expands to include authors from Purdue Northwest and Purdue Fort Wayne. The celebration will feature remarks from campus leaders, author spotlights, light refreshments, and opportunities to connect with Purdue’s scholarly and creative community.

Like many of his teammates on Purdue’s undefeated 1943 football team, All-American fullback Tony Butkovich came to West Lafayette to train to become a military officer. Butkovich is a central figure in the upcoming Netflix film “The Mosquito Bowl,” which shares the brutal realities of war through the perspective of four Marines who fought in the bloody Battle of Okinawa.
