In a future where fully autonomous vehicles rule the road, cars and trucks will move to a split-second torrent of data shared by computers that are on board, nearby and in the cloud. In this dynamic web of communication, any failure in the network is a threat to passengers. To ensure that cyber-physical systems — like a fully automated transportation system — can withstand breakdowns, hacking and unanticipated situations, the National Science Foundation is funding a new center led by Purdue to develop scientific mechanisms that enable resilience in the face of threats.
The Purdue Alumni Association has named Anthony Cawdron, Renee Thomas and Frank Robert Sabol as recipients of the 2024 Special Boilermaker Award for their dedication to Purdue. Established in 1981, the award honors members of the Purdue faculty or staff who have contributed significantly to the improvement of the quality of life and/or the betterment of the educational experience for a substantial number of Purdue students.
Purdue is inviting students, faculty and staff to a fireside chat at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. The chat will be moderated by Purdue President Mung Chiang and feature (right) U.S. Sen. Todd Young, R-Ind., and (left) Eric Garcetti, U.S. ambassador to India. Benefits open enrollment for 2025 begins today (Oct. 29) and ends at 6 p.m. ET Nov. 12. All employees are strongly encouraged to review and actively enroll for 2025 benefits. The benefit choices made during open enrollment will be in effect for all of 2025, unless an employee has a qualifying life event.
